Breast Biopsy
Medical Imaging of Fredericksburg provides breast biopsies with ACR accreditation. A breast biopsy is the removal of breast tissue to examine it for signs of cancer or other breast disorders. Several different types of biopsy may be done. The Imaging Center for Women offers stereotactic breast biopsy, which uses mammography to help pinpoint the spot in the breast that needs to be removed; breast ultrasound; and biopsy, which focuses on needle-based and ultrasound-guided breast biopsies. Medical Imaging of Fredericksburg offers MRI-guided breast biopsy, which uses an MRI to locate the position of the breast mass and perform a biopsy. The biopsy is done at the same time the mass is identified.
